AJ Lamarque is an experienced comedian whose style combines undeniable warmth, sharp intellect, and just the right amount of spice. Think the love child of Rhys Nicholson, Katherine Ryan and Michael McIntyre.
Having performed across Australia, AJ’s comedy career includes hosting the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Comedy Zone, being an Official Ambassador for Sydney Fringe Festival, and being named a Creative Australia Future Leader. His solo hour A Beginner’s Guide to Gay Cruising sold out at the Brisbane and Sydney Comedy Festivals.
AJ has also appeared at Mardi Gras’ Laugh Out Proud Gala, OzAsia Festival, the M&Ms Comedy Spotlight, The Comedy Store, Comedy Republic, and more. His signature blend of sharp storytelling and cultural commentary has earned him spots on podcasts such as The Gargle, A Rational Fear, Wax Quizzical, Confessions, Big Squid, and the cult-favourite D&D podcast Acquisitions Incorporated.
In 2024, AJ released The Gays — a self-funded, produced and written mockumentary series, which has since racked up nearly 1 million views.
As a comedy writer, AJ has contributed to Season 14 of Gruen and Season 2 of Question Everything with Wil Anderson. He has also worked with production companies Matchbox and Wintergarden Pictures on scripted development projects.
AJ is currently writing his debut full-length play — a political satire meets murder mystery that explores virality, influencer culture and the chaos of digital witch hunts. Coming soon to a theatre near you…

"His own standup feels loose and genuine and so dashingly smart, well designed and polished that you don’t notice."
